About Heather

My name is Heather Lucius (She/her/hers) Happily Married Mother.

I believe therapy should be a place where you feel seen as a whole person — not a diagnosis, a problem to be solved, or a story to be analyzed from a distance. My passion for mental health began through my own journey of seeking support and experiencing how painful it can feel to be misunderstood. That experience shaped my commitment to providing care that is compassionate, collaborative, trauma-informed, and deeply person-centered.

My passion for trauma-informed care also grew from my own traumatic birth experience and the adjustment to parenthood during the COVID-19 pandemic. I understand how overwhelming it can be to carry the weight of mental health challenges, family responsibilities, life transitions, and the unexpected demands of parenthood. Because of this, I approach my clients with dignity, respect, honesty, and warmth — and I believe that laughter can be an important part of healing, too.

My clinical work is grounded in practical, accessible tools that clients can use in everyday life. I believe therapy should not feel like a one-size-fits-all process. Instead, it should be collaborative and tailored to who you are, what you have experienced, and what actually works for your life. You are the expert on yourself, and my role is to walk alongside you with support, guidance, and tools that help you move toward healing and meaningful change.

I provide care through a trauma-informed lens and have training in approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Polyvagal Theory. I especially value helping clients understand how trauma, stress, and life experiences can impact the brain, body, nervous system, relationships, and day-to-day functioning. When clients better understand what is happening within them, they are often better equipped to cope, heal, and respond to future challenges with more confidence and self-compassion.

Above all, I want clients to feel safe, respected, and empowered in the therapy room. Whether you are navigating trauma, birth trauma, parenthood, anxiety, depression, major life transitions, or simply trying to feel more like yourself again, you do not have to do it alone. It would be an honor to support you as you move toward healing, understanding, and hope.
